Careful underwriting, honest reporting, and disciplined risk management — brick by brick.
Loam is the richest, most fertile soil there is — a balanced blend of sand, silt, and clay. It holds roots in place while giving crops room to grow. It is where things take root, and where real, lasting growth begins.
We chose the name deliberately. Building wealth in real estate is a lot like working good ground: it rewards patience, discipline, and a solid foundation far more than it rewards chasing the next shiny thing. Loam Capital Group is built on that idea. Grow your capital steadily, and keep it grounded in hard, tangible assets you can stand on.
The name is also personal. Loren grew up in agriculture, where you learn early that nothing good grows without healthy soil beneath it. That is how we treat your money: protect the ground first, and let the growth follow — feet firmly on the ground, wealth built brick by brick.
Loam is where growth begins — a nod to growing your wealth patiently, over time.
Every dollar is backed by real property — capital secured by something you can stand on.
A homage to Loren’s farming background — and its lesson that healthy soil comes first.

Loren Wernette is a Founder and Principal of REI Transactional and a principal of the Manager. He has built his career structuring, underwriting, and managing real estate investments — with risk management and operational discipline at the center of every decision.
His experience spans private real estate lending, fund management, and partnership-based investing. The vehicles he has run have consistently met their obligations to investors — including a continuous distribution record with no missed payments — across changing market conditions.
As Manager, Loren sets the investment strategy, approves every capital deployment, and oversees financial performance. He also leads the company’s day-to-day business operations and sets its long-term vision — guided by process-driven decisions, conservative assumptions, and plain, honest reporting.
“Smart investing is more than a spreadsheet. It is built on trust.”
Our founders have spent years underwriting and managing private real estate loans — 80 loans totaling $11.67M funded to date, with a continuous record of paying investors on time, in every market. That discipline is the foundation of how we invest today.
Figures reflect combined experience across the firm and its principals. Past performance is not a guide to future results; all investing carries risk.
Zak is a Founder and CFO of REI Transactional and a principal of the Manager, providing oversight across underwriting, capital structure, and risk management.
He brings deep experience in private real estate finance, credit evaluation, and capital deployment — structuring real-estate-backed investments with an emphasis on downside protection and alignment between investors and operating partners.
Zak reviews project-level financials, assesses risk, and monitors active investments so that every deal meets our underwriting standards before capital goes in.

You get paid first. You earn profits before we do. That is written into how both funds are built.
Plain terms. Real numbers. Quarterly reports you can actually read — no confusing fine print.
We build wealth slowly and safely — brick by brick. We would rather pass on a deal than force one.
Loren hosts the Brick by Brick podcast and writes plain-English articles on how real estate investing really works. Even if you never invest with us, we want you to leave smarter.
